7 hottest trends
for the fall/winter season
The birth of a trend is the result of long-term observation and analysis of many areas of life. They are not only a response to the current social, economic or cultural situation, but, above all, a reaction to our - often unconsciously - deeply hidden needs. Designers are constantly inspired by the world around us and transfer the most interesting ideas to their collections so that they form a coherent whole with the DNA and heritage of their brands. This season is no different. In addition to references to previous decades, among the micro and macro trends we can find many fascinating references to everyday life, which have already stolen the hearts of the biggest fashion lovers.
In homage to our childhood, designers have reinterpreted elements of the school uniform and, in their autumn-winter collections, presented us with their own, often non-obvious vision of a uniform for our times. Wool vests, pleated skirts and oxford shirts gained a unique character through the use of eye-catching details and avant-garde accessories. It was the patterned ties, novelty tights and knee socks that made these seemingly ordinary styles the most coveted trend of the season. It has stolen the hearts not only of girls who like to stand out from the crowd, but especially of those who are - literally - too cool for school...
Close to earth
After the micro skirts that reigned supreme at the spring shows, it's time for the exclusive and perfect for colder days maxi length. The designs reaching almost to the ground particularly dominated the Saint Laurent collection, in which Anthony Vaccarello presented us the now-trending length in an extremely sensual and elegant way. As an alternative to this distinctive sensual aesthetic, there were boho-style designs from Etro and Chloé, and functional but no less glamorous forms from Balenciaga.
Like a second skin
The material that mastered the autumn-winter collections is undoubtedly leather. Although associated with timeless designs, this season it takes on even the most avant-garde and surprising forms. The Mannei and Nanushka offer leather total looks in extravagant, eye-catching colors, Alexander McQueen reinterprets rock style, and Chloé opts for top-quality casual in a stunning autumn color palette. Leather from head to toe? in Matthieu Blazy's debut collection for fashion house Bottega Veneta, you'll find a multitude of styling inspirations in which the irreplaceable iconic 'Intrecciato' braid plays first fiddle.
This season we are revisiting the minimalist forms that reigned supreme in the 1990s and reinterpreting the styling of the fashion icon of the time -
Brands that will help us do this are first of all Jil Sander, Ann Demeulemeester and Totême, where we will find both timeless blazers, classic shirts and top quality jeans with versatile straight legs. Referring to the 90s, we could already admire the designs for the last few seasons, while only now they are experiencing a real renaissance.
Time to party
Extravagant and ultra-feminine designs do not end with the spring-summer collections. Among the proposals for this season we will find even more striking designs that will wake up Saturday night fever in a second. The answer to asymmetry, which has been trending until recently, are transparencies, sequins and sensual lace. They cover everything from avant-garde tops to sensual shirts and jackets to ankle-length dresses and coats. Not only for weekend madness - this season's party look will also work for everyday wear.
This autumn, we are abandoning the oversized cuts loved by everyone, in favor of designs that adhere and significantly emphasize the waist. Suggestions are indeed plentiful. These may include Y2K-style Versace corsets, forms with figure-slimming decorative draping, and voluminous belts that will look spectacular both on dresses, but also, as Proenza Schouler suggests, on outerwear. No less impressive will be a jacket with extended shoulders and a tapered waist - one of Kim Kardashian's favorite cuts, which will give us the most coveted hourglass silhouette in the fashion world.
More is more
When frigid temperatures drop, outerwear becomes our trademark, which, depending on current trends, takes on more or less spectacular forms. In their collections, designers have reassured us that maximalism in fashion is doing well and is undoubtedly staying with us for another season. Therefore, if you want to follow the vision of the best fashion houses, you should follow the principle that more... simply means more. Adopting XXL sized furs, ankle-length coats, voluminous down jackets and oversized bomber jackets are the models that will reign on the streets this year, so choose a design tailored to your individual needs and style now.
