THE MOST IMPORTANT MEN'S TRENDS FOR THE FALL/WINTER SEASON
POWER SUIT
Outfits composed of suits, shirts, and elegant vests dominated not just two or three shows, but truly a significant number of them.
The creative directors who showcased the greatest passion for impeccable tailoring were those at brands like Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Saint Laurent and Gucci.
On the runways of the first two fashion houses, we could mostly admire those timeless colors such as black, white, or grey. Meanwhile, Anthony Vaccarello and Sabato De Sarno infused their collections with a whole palette of autumnal shades: from captivating browns and beiges, to both lighter and darker hues of green, as well as sophisticated purples and navy blues.
DENIM FEVER
In the classic edition with an aged texture, in a colorful version or with ripped details? Or perhaps adorned with embroidered inserts or a monogram? Everyone should know that denim is thriving in fashion—but not everyone realizes that designers have unanimously declared it the leading trend of the upcoming autumn season.
This coveted material appeared on the runways in numerous interpretations. And although we generally favor timeless classics—chosen this year by, among others, Rhude, Ami, and Versace—our hearts were truly captured by the more innovative options. Shirts with decorative neck ties from Loewe or the denim coat by Dries Van Noten were undeniably outstanding, but the most intriguing offerings came from Diesel, Dsquared2, and Acne Studios. Distressed, frayed, patched, or crystal-embellished denim is what we recommend to the boldest fashion rebels this coming season.
C AS IN CARGO
One of the most important takeaways from the recent Fashion Weeks? The cargo aesthetic is not leaving men’s runways—even for a season. Pockets are everywhere: on jackets, shirts, trousers, jumpsuits, and even bags. Sometimes they result from playing with proportions, at other times they’re the outcome of experimenting with textures, and occasionally, they’re just a sign of an enduring love for minimalism.
To see the strength of this trend, just take a look at the autumn collections of Dries Van Noten, Off-White, Marant or Dsquared2. This is where the most cargo-inspired designs appeared and, interestingly, each took on a completely different form. The classic version reigned supreme at the hands of Belgium's irreplaceable designer, while the other three collections embraced true avant-garde—with asymmetric cuts, distinctive details, and eye-catching prints.
COAT IN THE SPOTLIGHT
According to designers, an attention-grabbing coat is set to be the most important element of any look this coming season.
So if you've already been wondering which autumn outerwear pieces to choose from, you've come to the right place...
This year, alongside safe, understated options chosen by the likes of Matthieu Blazy, a number of modern designs have emerged. We were especially impressed by coats emblazoned with logos or metallic lurex thread from Amiri, pieces featuring colorful and abstract prints from Balmain, as well as the leather-and-fur constructions from Burberry. That said, we certainly wouldn’t call the designs from Gucci or Givenchy dull, either. Coats enriched with ever-trendy fringes are, without a doubt, a must-have in the wardrobe of every stylish man!
