THE MOST FASHIONABLE SHOE MODELS
FOR THE SPRING/SUMMER SEASON

“A woman with good shoes is never ugly.” - Coco Chanel once said, and especially this season… we can't disagree with that quote. A proper pair of shoes that are both comfortable and elegant can completely change our outfits. Sometimes it completely breaks the seriousness and formality of the total look, but more often it takes it to a new level. Its innovative design captivates, but minimalist silhouettes and intricate details also impress. Choosing the perfect pair of shoes is not easy. However, we decided to make this task easier for you and we have selected the most striking models from the spring-summer collections of world-renowned brands. Check out our guide to this season’s most fashionable shoes and find your dream pair today.

Close to the ground: the great comeback of ballet flats

Even those who don't follow trends know that ballet flats are experiencing a true renaissance in fashion. The flat-sole shoes are conquering not only the catwalks of renowned designers but most importantly - the streets of major fashion capitals. Trendsetters, stylists or simply avid fashionistas are increasingly willing to incorporate them into their casual outfits, which translates into an endless number of interpretations.

So, there is no choice but to stock up on at least one pair of this not-yet-forgotten item and test out this hot trend on your own... feet and principles. Which designs are worth paying attention to?

Timeless and elegant models with a pointed toe are offered by Lanvin, Proenza Schouler and Burberry. Jimmy Choo and Maison Margiela are the brands which focus on extravagance, while Chloé, Salvatore Ferragamo and Tory Burch offer purely casual silhouettes. You can choose from subdued colours, lavish logo details and decorative textures and lace-up fastenings.

Focus on colour

This year, each shoe is covered in saturated colours, neon tones and sharp hues. We can’t help but admit we love it. There is no better way to spice up your spring outfit than with accessories or, as in this case, shoes in bright, ultra-saturated colours.

With admirers of elegance and streetwear enthusiasts in mind, we have prepared proposals that will work well with both classic and avant-garde looks. If you love extravagant pumps, then shoes from Victoria Beckham, Jimmy Choo, Bottega Veneta or Saint Laurent will meet all your expectations.

Colourful platform pumps have always been a Versace speciality, but this season they also feature in Giuseppe Zanotti's portfolio. Perfect for spring, flip-flops and sandals are hallmarks of JW Anderson and The Attico collections, while innovative and comfortable sneakers reign supreme at Chloé and Balenciaga.

Looking forward to the first days of summer

From the catwalk straight to the streets – open toe shoes will also be a fashionable choice this spring. Fortunately, you don't have to limit yourself to just one aesthetic, because the versatile range of models will allow you to hunt down both timeless designs for everyday wear and extremely avant-garde ones for big nights out.

For the former, look no further than Bottega Veneta, Isabel Marant and Chloé. Matthieu Blazy's collection presented phenomenal mule models – ‘Knot' and 'Atomic’, the master of romantic boho Isabel Marant opted for designs with decorative straps and eye-catching appliqués, while Gabriela Hearst balanced between stylish platform sandals and new interpretations of Chloé’s iconic ‘Woody’ slides. Saint Laurent, Jimmy Choo and Dolce & Gabbana chose a bit more daring items. The designs were adorned with sparkling crystals, animal motifs and glitter textures. The duo of The Attico refused to be left behind, showcasing suede ‘Cheope’ shoes on decorative platforms for their spring-summer collection.

Spring in high spirits

Even though platforms came back into fashion a few seasons ago, designers are not letting go of this trend quite yet. With their spring/summer collections, designers prove they still have quite a lot to say on the matter and include completely new and often unobvious models in their offers for the coming months.

Perfect examples of this are provided by Alaïa, Alexander McQueen and Versace. The first two brands added designs reminiscent of the grunge style of the 1990s to their collections, while the Italian brand headed by Donatella Versace strengthened its position as the leader in ultra-high shoes by releasing new 18 cm boots and extended the color range of its iconic ‘Medusa Aevitas’ sandals. The fashion house Balmain wowed us with this season's equally on-trend leopard print, while Rick Owens stole our hearts with his finely crafted ‘Minimal Grill Beatle’ model. Stylish platforms significantly lower to the ground appeared in the portfolios of Stella McCartney, Marni and Chloé. The platforms carried some espadrilles, several loafer models and many fashionable sandal pairs.

Razor sharp

Although pointed-toe shoes are usually associated with minimalist classics, this season they’re far from boring. Top designers give us a new (and very glamorous) take on this popular style, with models for every occasion.

Balenciaga's exclusive stilettos, recommended especially to those who love elegance, are still leading the way. This season, the iconic, razor-sharp ‘Knife’ model was covered in both crocodile-like leather and eye-catching metallic yarn. Burberry featured timeless designs adorned with logo detailing, while the creative director of Jimmy Choo adorned the shoes with bows, decorative buckles, sparkling crystals and asymmetrical cut-outs. But wait, there’s more! The irreplaceable Donatella Versace also decided to flirt with pointed toe shoes and in her spring/summer collection opted for the much-loved ‘Pin-Point’ model with its signature curved heel.
