Twin brothers Dan and Dean Caten are from Toronto, Canada. They are the children of an Italian immigrant, two of nine. They grew up in poverty, but have had a passion for fashion and clothing design since they were young. In 1983, they started studying at Parson's School of Design in New York. Then in 1991 they moved to Italy, to the capital of fashion: Milan.

In 1994, they founded the Dsquared2 brand with the primary aim of subverting the previous fashion rules, revealing their vision of men's fashion. They quickly made an impression on the public and became recognised in the world of luxury ready-to-wear.

Dsquared2 breathed new life into jeans with a uniquely distressed look. Pitted, rubbed, paint-stained, they have won the hearts of fans of unconventional styling. They achieved great fame when they collaborated with Diesel in 2003, presenting at that time a collection of jeans for women. The brand gained fame when the show of this collection ended with a striptease. Then it was spotted by celebrities. Rihanna, Beyoncé, Lenny Kravitz or Karl Lagerfeld are just a few names from a long list of clients.
