HOTTEST TRENDS FOR THE FALL/WINTER 2024 SEASON

TO BE A LADY

After several seasons dominated by the fashion boom of the 90s and early 2000s, it’s time to revisit the 60s. As you put together your autumn wardrobe, take a closer look at styles such as satin dresses, flared skirts, swing coats, and button-up tweed pieces.

The perfect runway inspirations include the sophisticated dresses by Givenchy and Jacquemus, as well as the captivating designs from Marni. Here, you should also pay attention to the accessories themselves, which, when paired with chosen clothing styles, will further highlight the retro atmosphere and elevate your look to the next level. Embracing the spirit of the 60s, you can also draw inspiration from the equally spectacular pieces by Bottega Veneta and Versace. Dazzling sets featuring perfectly tailored blazers make a statement both for everyday wear and special occasions.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: THE COLLAR

A high-standing collar is undoubtedly the most important feature of designs to consider when creating autumn and winter looks. This somewhat unexpected trend has taken over the runways of the most recognizable brands, further solidifying its position during London, New York, Milan, and Paris fashion weeks.

The most interesting interpretations came from Alexander McQueen, Acne Studios and Proenza Schouler. The fur tops and oversized cardigans with collars reminiscent of exaggerated 17th-century ruffs presented by Seán McGirr truly impressed us. At the Scandinavian label, we were most captivated by the voluminous fur pieces, coats, and jackets, while the American duo impressed us especially with shirt-style dresses and minimalist knitted tops.

SECOND SKIN

If we had to choose one material to wear throughout the upcoming season, without a shadow of a doubt, it would be leather. This year, leather appeared on the runways in virtually every possible style, impressing us both with innovative cuts and eye-catching colors.

We spotted exceptionally innovative designs at Acne Studios and Balenciaga. And while original constructions of blazers and bodysuits stood out brilliantly, what impressed us most were the black dresses—like Demna Gvasalia’s design, which resembled a jacket draped over the body. The collections also focused on other truly autumnal shades. Browns, burgundies, greens, and navy blues dominated the shows at Ferragamo, Chloé and Gucci, gracing coats, capes, trousers, jackets, shirts, and skirts.

TOMORROW WILL BE FUR

However, if leather doesn't seem particularly interesting to you, you are bound to fall in love with the triumphant furry-textured designs showcased on the runways. The choices are endless, as creative directors didn’t limit themselves to outerwear only—instead, they presented a whole array of dresses, tops, skirts, and even... bags!

Unconventional solutions included, for instance, black furry mini skirts paired with oversized matching sleeves from Alaïa. Pastels, beiges, and grassy greens appeared at Dries Van Noten in the form of just about every possible clothing item or accessory, while the season’s trendiest khaki shade combined with yellow brought character to Burberry’s maxi dresses. Outerwear, specifically sophisticated fur coats, have proven to be the specialty of Saint Laurent this year. Anthony Vaccarello has prepared so many color variants that everyone will effortlessly find their favorite.
