The brand was founded in 2010 by Moroccan designer Yohan Serfaty and Glenn Martens was appointed as creative director in 2013. Until this happened, the Belgian creator worked under the watchful eye of French fashion icon Jean-Paul Gaultier. In the collections for men and women, a graduate of The Royal Academy of Antwerp showcases his unique approach to interpreting masculinity and femininity. Martens emphasizes individuality and independence and blends energetic streetwear pieces with provocative accents. Y/Project draws on subcultural and historical references that form the backdrop for innovative and unconventional unisex silhouettes.
