THE MOST IMPORTANT TRENDS FOR THE SPRING/SUMMER 2024 SEASON
For those who passionately follow them, but also for those who, true to their individual style, incorporate only
the most intriguing elements into their wardrobes. We present the most essential trends for the upcoming spring-summer season, so that this year
you can be the first to discover them. Here are the designs that have won the acclaim of the most influential fashion houses.
MICRO SHORTS:
SHOW OFF YOUR LEGS!
Although the trend for ultra-short shorts was already being discussed at the end of 2023, it’s the spring-summer season that will see these controversial designs become the most coveted styling piece. However, you don’t have to wait for a heatwave to try it out. Taking a cue from Kendall Jenner, you can simply layer them over warm tights and, ahead of all the fashionistas, try out the hottest trend of 2024 right now.
Micro shorts have appeared at a multitude of fashion houses. They made their debut during Milan Fashion Week, ruling the runway especially in Sabato De Sarno’s debut collection for Gucci and Peter Hawkings for Tom Ford, before making their way to the fashion capital—Paris. There, they were especially embraced by Alexander McQueen, Isabel Marant, Stella McCartney and the house of Chloé. At times, they were styled in a nonchalant manner, accentuating the legs of elegantly dressed models, while on other occasions, they became a more casual or even sporty element of the outfit.
MODERN ROMANTICISM:
I AM A WOMAN
Lace, bows, organza, silk, and romantic hues. The fashion industry refuses to let go of the balletcore aesthetic, even for a moment, and what's more – in the spring/summer collections, it is testing its boundaries to the fullest. This exceptional blend of delicacy and romance is now given a new meaning, as it is offered not only for evening outings but also... for everyday wear.
The vision of modern femininity from morning to night has been embraced by Blumarine, Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabbana and Balmain. The first two brands showcased the beauty of romanticism through openwork, lace, ruffles, and translucency, the Italian fashion house continued a version of femininity more associated with sensuality and coquetry, while at Olivier Rousteing's house, elegant pleats and the charming motif of roses took center stage. Matthew Williams and… Demna Gvasalia were not left behind. At the Givenchy show, we admired semi-transparent skirts and a whole spectrum of pastel colors, and on the scorching-hot runway of Balenciaga, models marched in stunning creations adorned with floral patterns, lace constructions, and dresses embellished with bows.

SPORTY CHIC:
A NEW FACE OF ELEGANCE
A trend that guarantees not only an attractive look, but also comfort? Sporty chic won over the most prestigious brands at the recent fashion weeks, so if you care about a style aligned with the current aesthetic, you won't find a better solution. Discover where to find inspiration for outfits that combine sporty comfort with effortless elegance, and bring the vision of leading designers into your own wardrobe today.
The most interesting interpretations of this trend were showcased by Italian brands Dries Van Noten, Y/Project and Dsquared2. Silhouettes previously reserved for more formal occasions were paired with tops strikingly similar to rugby shirts. Of course, the runways also featured sweatshirts characteristic of this aesthetic. Gucci styled them with eye-catching leather skirts, Ferragamo matched them with capri pants—until recently considered a fashion faux pas—and JW Anderson transformed relaxed silhouettes into everyday mini dresses. As you might expect, sporty chic looks also appeared at Wales Bonner. Renowned for this style, the designer enchanted us with an unconventional combination of a blazer with informal shorts, as well as a navy set starring a fitted, sporty sweatshirt.
PROJECTS WITH HIGH RISE:
HIGH, HIGHER, HIGHEST
High-waisted clothing styles, especially trousers, will make a truly grand comeback this season. Designers have decided to play a little with proportions and, instead of continuing the story of these classic pieces found in every wardrobe, have offered something incredibly... fresh.
If you’ve been following recent fashion shows even a little, you won’t be surprised to learn that our hearts were especially stolen by Jonathan Anderson’s designs for Loewe. The Irish designer presented no less than 13 different variations of trousers on the runway, each finishing not at the waist but just under the bust. The same height appeared at Alaïa, Issey Miyake, and Balmain, while at Rick Owens we saw a slightly lower but no less impressive interpretation. We wouldn’t be ourselves if we didn’t also mention the designs of Saint Laurent. The much-discussed show last year by Anthony Vaccarello, which paid homage to the iconic Safari collection by the founder himself, consisted of striking high-waisted trousers, as well as skirts and jumpsuits.
